Are Mercedes-Benz Vehicles Reliable?

2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class Exterior Outdoors

When searching for a new or pre-owned vehicle that can power your drives through Westport and Weston, it’s important to choose a car that you can trust. But how do Mercedes-Benz reliability scores compare to those of their competitors? As you’re doing your research, you’ll notice that while Mercedes-Benz vehicles are not at the top of today’s reliability lists, they can still be exceptionally strong choices.

Mercedes-Benz Reliability

So, is a Mercedes-Benz a good car to invest in? According to J.D. Power, Mercedes-Benz ranks right in the middle of the pack. Their study found that, over the first three years of ownership, Mercedes-Benz vehicles will require roughly 195 repairs per 100 vehicles sold (195 PP100). The industry-wide average is 192 PP100. Drivers shopping for a luxury vehicle will be glad to learn that Mercedes-Benz outperformed Audi (232 PP100), Jaguar (233 PP100), Acura (244 PP100), Volvo (256 PP100), and many other brands.

Repairpal, which considers reliability over a longer term, rates the brand at 3.0 out of 5, partly due to the fact that parts for Mercedes-Benz vehicles can cost more than parts for cheaper, non-luxury vehicles. Additionally, and importantly, Repairpal found that Mercedes-Benz owners visit the repair shop less than one time per year on average—and there is only a 13% chance that the required repair will require extensive work.

These are great odds, and they should give you peace of mind when shopping for a Mercedes-Benz in Fairfield or Norwalk. If you have additional questions about the types of repairs typically needed, contact our service department and they will be happy to help.

Is a Mercedes-Benz a Good Car?

Are Mercedes-Benz vehicles reliable? Of course! Every model that wears the three-pointed star undergoes a design process where precision and dependability are of the highest priority. While Mercedes-Benz repairs can be expensive due to the imported parts, the same is true for all non-domestic vehicles. Plus, the quality and precision with which a Mercedes-Benz is designed and produced means that repairs are less frequent than with other brands.

Don’t just take it from us. According to Consumer Reports, you can expect your Mercedes-Benz to have “an impeccable interior, quiet cabin, [and] advanced safety systems”. They also noted that several of the sedans and SUVs made by the brand performed very well in their tests.
