Tesla vs. Mercedes-Benz All-Electric Vehicles: Luxury Comparison

The biggest difference experts notice when comparing Tesla and Mercedes-Benz all-electric vehicles is the level of luxury inside the cabin. For example, in a review of the 2023 EQS sedan, Car and Driver calls it “the most technologically advanced luxury sedan” which “offers the latest and greatest in gadgetry.”

Meanwhile, Car and Driver reviewed the Tesla Model S and noted that it’s “beginning to show its age,” with a “mid-luxe interior” and a “somewhat dubious” Tesla full self-driving beta. Here are just some of the luxury features you’ll enjoy on the Norwalk roads behind the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz all-electric vehicle, that you won’t find on a Tesla:

  • 56-inch infotainment hyperscreen with three touchscreens
  • Bespoke color customization options
  • Interior ambient lighting
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto®
  • Near-field communication (NFC) technology
  • Biometric fingerprint authentication
  • “Hey Mercedes” voice activation
  • Augmented-reality navigation system
  • Built-in Dashcam
  • 64-color LED ambient lighting
  • In-car WiFi hotspot
  • Rear seat wireless charging

Tesla vs. Mercedes-Benz All-Electric Vehicles: Charging Network

Tesla has its own charging network for fast charging called, Tesla Superchargers. Meanwhile, Mercedes-Benz all-electric vehicles utilize Mercedes me Charge to find charging stations that are available. With that being said, Mercedes-Benz all-electric vehicles are adopting the NACS charging port which will allow it to utilize Tesla Superchargers as well as its own charging network. Here’s what that means:

  • Mercedes-Benz All-Electric Vehicles: Will be able to utilize more than 12,000 Tesla Superchargers in North America in addition to its own Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging Network. If you own an all-electric vehicle from Mercedes-Benz, you can access your MBUX Navigation system with Electric Intelligence for access to Tesla Superchargers and the Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging Network. The Mercedes-Benz Charging Network is also expanding with more than 2,500 high-power chargers in North American.
  • Tesla: Tesla vehicles are only able to utilize Tesla Superchargers when you want fast-charging. While the Tesla Supercharger network is impressive, you won’t be able to have access to the Mercedes-Benz High-Power Charging Network with a Tesla.
