Comparing the 2022 Mercedes-Benz A-Class vs. C-Class? You’ll find plenty of things to appreciate in either model, but what is the best Mercedes-Benz class for your adventures in Westport? Although final pricing for the 2022 C-Class is not yet available, drivers who choose the A-Class are likely to pay less than those who move down the lineup. However, since the 2022 C-Class offers a stronger base engine, more engine upgrades, more spacious interior dimensions, and a newly improved suite of standard features, it just might feel like a perfect fit for your needs!
In years past, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class has started at roughly $8,000 higher than the entry-level A-Class. In the current model year, we know that the A-Class will start at $33,950 MSRP*—but we are not yet sure where the 2022 C-Class price will land.
However, we do know that the 2022 C-Class will be offered with a new 11.9-inch portrait-style touchscreen display, along with a range of other impressive interior upgrades—and that means drivers who choose the C-Class are likely to have a higher monthly payment than those who choose the A-Class. In fact, the difference in pricing between the two models could even be more pronounced this time around.
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz A-Class comes standard with a 188-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine. The 2022 C-Class also receives a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, but this one outputs up to 255 hp. The C-Class also comes standard with EQ Boost, which can add more horsepower and torque when you engage the system.
What’s more, while the A-Class is only offered with the 188-hp engine identified above, the C-Class has traditionally been offered in a number of potent AMG® configurations with even more power. We’re not yet sure of which options will be available in 2022—but drivers who are looking for a more invigorating drive would be wise to keep an eye on the 2022 C-Class lineup.
Any driver who compares the A-Class vs. C-Class will notice that the C-Class is the larger sedan. With several more inches of rear legroom and several more cubic feet of cargo space, the C-Class may feel like a better fit for busy drivers in Norwalk and Weston. Compare their precise specs here:
