Mercedes-Benz Tire Pressure Guidelines

2021 Mercedes-Benz AMG® A-Class Tire

What tire pressure should you have in your vehicle? Correct tire pressure for your Mercedes-Benz is listed on the inside of your vehicle’s fuel door. Although precise Mercedes-Benz tire pressure guidelines will vary from vehicle to vehicle, the vast majority of passenger vehicles perform best when their tire pressure falls between 32 and 35 PSI.

How to Check Your Tire Pressure

If you have a tire pressure gauge—available for purchase at our Fairfield parts department—you can manually check your tire pressure by inserting the gauge into the valve stem. Although a gauge can’t answer the question, “What tire pressure should I have?” on its own, it’s still an invaluable tool in any driver’s arsenal.

However, for most drivers in Westport and Norwalk, manual tire pressure checks will rarely be necessary. All new Mercedes-Benz vehicles come equipped with a Tire Pressure Monitoring System that will alert you if your pressure is too high or too low. If you’re getting a warning, top off at the closest service center or public air compressor.

If your tire pressure warning light won’t go off, all you need to do is schedule service. However, remember to check the spare tire before you jump to conclusions.

When Should You Check Your Tire Pressure?

The best time to check your tire pressure is in the morning, before you do any driving. This is because driving your vehicle heats up the air in your tires, causing it to expand. In some cases, this expansion may be significant enough to cause a false reading. If your tire pressure light comes on in the morning and turns off during the afternoon, only to reappear the next day, this is almost certainly the issue.

What Should Tire Pressure Be in Winter?

If you’ve noticed that you tend to lose tire pressure in winter more quickly than in summer, you’re onto something. Cold weather can cause the air in your tires to contract, so your pressure will be lower than it needs to be if you don’t make any changes. Keep this in mind the next time winter heads into Fairfield and Weston.

What should tire pressure be in winter, and is it different from the all-season guideline? Mercedes-Benz correct tire pressure guidelines can get you through any season, so you should continue to keep your tires between 32 and 35 PSI.

When colder weather arrives, you should continue to check your tire pressure before you start driving, at least once per month. It’s likely that you’ll need to fill your tires with more air in the winter in order to keep the pressure constant year-round—but keeping that pressure constant (at 32–35 PSI) should be your goal! For the same reason, you might find that you need to remove a little air once the weather starts to get warm and stay that way.
