Mercedes-Benz GLS Dimensions: Seating and Cargo Space
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS dimensions have not yet been fully revealed, but already, we can paint a fairly complete picture of its interior. The most important thing to note is that the Mercedes-Benz GLS wheelbase has been increased by 2.4 inches in the new year, and the result is a cabin with significantly more room to spread out! Here’s what we know so far:
- Headroom (1st Row) – 41.4 inches
- Headroom (2nd Row) – 40.2 inches
- Shoulder Room (1st Row) – 59.3 inches
- Shoulder Room (2nd Row) – 58.5 inches
- Legroom (1st Row) – At least 40.3 inches
- Legroom (2nd Row) – 41.9 inches when in rearmost position
Mercedes-Benz asserts that the 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS third row is suitable for passengers who are 6.4 feet tall, or shorter. In 2019, the last row of GLS seating offered 35 inches of legroom and 50.5 inches of shoulder room.
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz cargo space is expected to be even more accommodating that that which was offered with the outgoing model. Expect to enjoy at least 16 cubic feet of cargo space with the rear seats upright, or up to 93.8 cubic feet with the 2nd and 3rd rows laid flat!
Not sure if you’ll need this much space? Compare the 2019 GLS vs. 2019 GLC to see if the smaller model might be the right choice, or dive right into the GLC dimensions for 2020!
Mercedes-Benz GLS Exterior Dimensions
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS has been completely redesigned for 2020, and as we noted above, its wheelbase is now 2.4 inches longer than before! In fact, all of the Mercedes-Benz GLS exterior dimensions are more impressive than ever before:
- 205.2 inches from bumper to bumper
- 123.4 inches from front wheels to back wheels
- 77 inches wide and 71.8 inches tall
- Front track width of 65.7 inches
- Rear track width of 66.6 inches
The 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLS weight has not yet been released. However, the larger redesign is likely to result in a higher curb weight, up from the 5,335 pounds of 2019.
However, despite this fact, the new GLS is anything but bulky. In fact, Mercedes-Benz has said that the new model will have a drag coefficient of just 0.32! That’s a notable improvement over last year’s GLS, which was rated with a drag coefficient of 0.35.
