The Mercedes-Benz GLE’s entry-level engine is a turbo four-cylinder unit that generates 255 horsepower. A turbocharged six-cylinder unit producing 375 horsepower is offered in mid-level trims. The most powerful gas engine available in the GLE is a turbocharged V8, producing 603 horsepower. A plug-in hybrid system with a turbo four-cylinder gas engine and an electric motor produces 381 horsepower and offers a 60-mile all-electric range.
The XC90 has three powertrain systems. The two gas engines are a mild-hybrid turbo 2.0-liter, four-cylinder, 247-horsepower system and a high-performance version of this engine that generates 295 horsepower. The plug-in hybrid engine generates 455 horsepower and has a 32-mile all-electric range.
Appearance
The 2026 GLE’s style is defined by premium details from front to rear. Crisp accent lines stream across the hood and enhance the deep contours on the sides. The open-triangle-spoke headlights and wide grille have chrome accents. Large headlights feature upper and lower LED bars, along with a pair of LED bulbs, for a dramatic touch.
The Volvo XC90 boasts a traditional look, characterized by a gently curved profile, smooth sides, and rounded fenders. Thor’s hammer flanks the minimized grille LED headlights. Below the headlights, three-pronged air vents pair with a low-profile bumper.
Features
Both of these vehicles are available with heated seats in the first two rows, a panoramic sunroof, Apple CarPlay®, Android Auto®, a wireless charging pad, adaptive cruise control, a blind-spot warning system, a surround-view camera, parking sensors, and others.
